Accountability and the BBC

Now at least we have an answer to that chicken-and-egg question: did Blair pay less attention to parliament because the media ignored it, or did the media pay less attention because Blair ignored it? After the BBC cut their coverage of Tony Blair's farewell to the House in order to return to a second-round match between two obscure women at Wimbledon, I think it's fair to blame the media for the devaluation of parliament, and the dumbing-down of the political debate. Or if not the whole media, at least the institutionally-biased BBC.
